Why is it that the people screaming the loudest about the “Gubment” coming to take away their guns are generally the most paranoid, delusional pussies in their respective trailer park?

Here’s a little reality for those of you who think that having a conversation about trying to keep crazy people from getting their hands on portable murder machines immediately leads to Obama pissing directly on the Constitution and the Second Amendment right before he sends his boys to come take away your weapons: It’s never going to happen.

Do you know how I know that? Because it has never happened.

When the Firearms Owners Protection Act (FOPA) was passed in 1986, it banned the sale or transfer of machine guns and other fully automatic weapons that were not previously registered. Do you remember the battles that occurred when the ATF came to take away the uzi’s? No? It’s probably because they never happened.

When the Gun Control Act of 1968 was passed after Martin Luther King and a couple of Kennedys got mowed down, it made it illegal to sell or transfer guns to people with criminal records or who were suspected of having bad intentions. Do you remember the outrage when the government started deciding who was mentally competent and taking away guns? No? It’s probably because that never happened, either.

When the National Firearms Act passed in 1934 it banned sawed off shotguns and the popular “Tommy Gun” and made the first requirements for gun registration. Do you remember when the next step after registration was the government coming to seize all of the registered firearms? No? It’s probably because that also never happened.

So I ask you directly: What makes you think that NOW is when your guns are in jeopardy? Why is NOW when the Second Amendment is going to be ignored? How did talking about changes to the background check laws to make them more comprehensive and required on private transfers jump to every citizen being limited to one single-fire musket? What actual law was passed that has you worried? By the way, the background check legislation is favored by 92% of the country. I don’t remember everyone flipping out on that Socialist Ronald Reagan when he was instrumental in getting the 1994 Assault Weapons Ban passed.

There have been changes to gun laws since the birth of our great nation. Somehow America still manages to have 5% of the world’s population, 50% of the total guns, and 80% of the gun related murders. WE’RE NUMBER ONE!

So relax, America. For a group of people so well armed, what are you so afraid of?
